Meet Lorraine

Craniosacral Therapist in Blanchardstown since 2017.

My name is Lorraine Houlihan and I’ve been working as a Craniosacral Therapist in Blanchardstown since 2017. I completed my training with the Upledger Institute Ireland and am qualified in Craniosacral Therapy techniques, Somato Emotional Release and Paediatrics. I am a Registered member of the Irish Association of Craniosacral Therapists (IACST) and currently hold the position of Treasurer with the IACST.

I am Garda Vetted in accordance with the requirements of membership of the IACST.

I discovered Craniosacral Therapy as a client in 2006, when I was pregnant on my third child. I found my treatments deeply relaxing and they helped keep me on an even keel emotionally. I took very little notice of the fact that my therapist primarily concentrated on my pelvic area. But I felt all the benefit of that when it came to my labour and delivery. The birth was so much shorter and easier than my previous two experiences – the difference was amazing. I couldn’t believe that such a gentle treatment could achieve such physical results – I was hooked.
Four weeks later, I introduced my three children to their first craniosacral therapy session. My newborn was very colicy – I saw improvements after the first two sessions with no further symptoms after his third session. My two older boys had been diagnosed with asthma and Craniosacral Therapy gave them great relief – 9 months later, the dreaded annual hospitalisation for bronchialitis for my second son never materialised. Using Craniosacral Therapy (and his nebuliser), I was able to manage his symptoms at home for the first time in 3 years. I've continued to have my children treated regularly and have found it to be of huge benefit in supporting my sons through a range of issues, including lordosis (curvature of the spine), before and during dental braces, disrupted sleep patterns, anxiety and a variety of sports injuries.

My background was originally in Financial Services, where I worked for 24 years. In 2013, I was working full-time, in addition to being a wife and mother to four boys. My work life balance needed some attention and I made the decision to change career and qualify as a Craniosacral Therapist. I have never looked back.

I find being a Craniosacral Therapist to be intensely satisfying. To be able to support a client's self healing process, bringing balance and ease back to a body is a deeply rewarding experience.
